Till Death and Beyond
A surreal painting where crows and human skulls sit side by side in formal attire. “Till Death and Beyond” explores themes of death, hierarchy and identity, questioning what truly remains when life ends. Created by artist Andy Renard, this artwork blends dark symbolism with a striking, narrative composition.
The story behind the painting
In a world where death was supposed to end everything, nothing truly changed.
The same hierarchy remained. The same roles were kept.
The living and the dead sat side by side, dressed in the same symbols of status, as if existence itself refused to let go of its structure.
The crows had adapted. The humans had decayed.
Yet both belonged to the same system. The tree held them all — not as a place of rest, but as a witness.
Because even beyond death, something continues to watch, to organize, and to repeat.
About the painting
This painting explores what remains when life ends — not physically, but socially and symbolically.
The figures suggest that identity, hierarchy, and ritual may outlive the human body itself.
It questions whether death is an escape, or simply another stage within the same structure.
